    aquateenjunkie:

    Hannibal:
It wasn't until a German Negotiator came up to the tower, stood right next to me and talked to me for like 2 minutes and then said "hey, your Hannibal!!", that I was busted. I raised my marker on him like i was going to shoot him hostage style. He said, "you can't shoot me, I'm a negotiator!". And although I wasn't going to shoot him point blank in the chest I don't think he was entirely convinced. I simply held my A-5 on him told him to exit the tower quietly, while following him down the steps. I realized that I had been made and had to make my move now.

lol that was me coming from the Generals meeting. i went there to tell the japs in there ( or at least i thought they were japs) the news about no alliances. i saw that nametag and my blood froze for a few seconds. i dont recall being  there for 2 minutes though. but thank you for not shooting me point blank before i could say that i was a negotiator, that was very sportsmanlike, and i hope to return the favor one day soon.

chappy, i guess its a good thing i asked you if i could wear the negotiator armband out of the generals meeting.

    good play, hannibal... good play.

maybe it wasnt 2 minutes. Time got reall fuzzy as I realized that I had to make my move right THEN! I will say that I appreciate you playing the part and not yelling to everyone that I was up there when I drew on you. You played it cool aqua, I'll give you that....  Althought I think we would both have gotten shot up if anybody had figured it out before you could get out of the way.

    Re: WAW: my response

The one I surrendered you could, its open on top in the back where the guy shoots out.  As far as the tank at WAW I'm not sure.  I think I saw a hole where he was shooting with his paintball gun (as opposed to the tank turret), thats a great place to stick a barrel through if the opportunity presents its self.  One thought though, not sure if they wore masks in the tank, I would assume they did, but I would have been checking before shooting, even at the expense of getting killed myself.  I just got lucky when I did it though, not something I would typically recommend doing!

    Re: WAW: my response

They were wearing masks.  They had a gullwing door design, which at one point some one in the tank opened and put their hand out to raise the center flag for the japs and allies.  I tried to take a picture but the camera was not 'ready' in time.

At Blanding Tanks were taken out by zooks or grenades.  Grenades disabled the tank for 5 minutes at its location.  Zooks took it out and sent it back to respawn.  Goose managed to throw a grenade into their tank through a hole no bigger than the grenade.  It went off in the tank (a Jeep Cherokee inside) and got the driver/gunner good.  It only counted as a "disablement", but the tank driver was very impressed when we talked to him later.

In the future, tank rules will be standardized so there will be a method of atleast "disabling" the tank if you don't have a zook, etc.

what about the hatch tap rule. the one were you just go and tap the hatch, simulating someone throwing a grenade down the hatch.

    Re: WAW: my response

Why is so hard to install a kill switch? I mean, it is and engine after all. According to most larger field safety rules, tanks have to have a kill switch anyway incase of accidents or to simulate disabling the tank. If you dont want to make it easy for someone to just abuse it by shooting paintballs at it, simply put it on the TOP of the tank. That way someone would have to get close enough to actually hit it, simulating a grenade in the hatch kinda like aquateens tape rule. You could make it out of one of "EASY" buttons that you see on peoples desks at work. They're tough and the spring inside them is sturdy enough that someone would have to slap it to kill the tank, not just shoot it. I don't know, it just another idea. But I definitely agree with everyone that any tank that rolls onto the battlefront field need to have a way to be taken out without a zook since not everyone has one.

    Lol!  I love it!

I just disabled a tank!  That was easy...

    Re: WAW: my response

Actually that tank did have a kill switch on the back left side.

Our biggest problem was that we were not informed the tank would be there until we saw it that day. The original scenario had Evil Genuis's tank, however when they said they were not going to make it to the game we removed all thought concerning tanks. Basically we were caught unprepared and had to make up the rules morning of.

    Re: WAW: my response

There are fields I have played at where the tanks can not be eliminated even with a rocket, they are absolutely invincible. It just adds to the fun, because you hear people down the road yelling and you can't quite make it out, then it gets louder and closer until you realize what they are yelling. They are all yelling "TANK" over and over in unison!

By the end of the day every time you hear a group of players yelling together you start looking around for the biggest freaking log you can find because you want to have a huge bunker to hide behind when the tank gets close.

I remember getting in a spot I thought was safe to find out the tank would pass right by and have a good angle on me. I pressed myself into these bushes as hard as I could, they were thorn bushes and I was bleading all over by the time the tank moved on from the thorns sticking into me. But the hundreds of paintballs flying just inches from my head made me care less about the thorns as the seconds ticked on and on and on.

I do think a button on top of the tank is a good idea though, but I also see value in making sure only a rocket can take it out. In real life tanks can't be taken out with buttons, and it is not very realistic to think you will open a hatch and drop a grenade down.

I am not sure how the tank rules went, but what would help is to require the tank to always keep moving forward - not let it stop and dominate an area for more than 10 seconds or something.

    Re: WAW: my response

They team that brought the tank fought very honorably from all the feedback I heard.  Ther didn't stay in one area too long.  I think it worked well, but next time well have tank rules posted ahead of time.

    Re: WAW: my response

I woulda liked to see them use the tank a little more aggressivly. Like when they were attacking us they just sat there. And like 10 of our guys were sitting there. If it had moved forward we woulda had to flee in terror which woulda been more fun. They were good though from what little I saw of it.

    Re: WAW: my response

This was my teams first time playing with/against a tank. As the U.S., when we were allied with the japs and were working with them in the town, I found the tank extremely useful (duh). If nothing else, you  could follow in its wake of destructions and recover loss ground very quickly. After the lunch break, playing against it was interesting also (more so since none of the U.S. players had access to a rockets), because it forced us into action on many occassions where we might have otherwise tried to buy time or stall until we had enough forces to do whatever it was we were going to do. Either way, I know that myself and the rest of "1st Strike" will be much more prepared to deal with tanks in the future, thanks to this last game. So even though we didn't win, I still look at this game as a success on many different levels. I do however hope that the "cost" of rockets goes down in future games. The "recovered ammo" at TET where we got rockets as a reward instead of having to buy them w/ our points was much more to my liking, and I think better suited to a game with tanks. And yes, I understand the point of purchasing things at the black market in this game was to make the generals prioritize there "points vs. firepower" options, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. :p
