I just spoke to one of our 1st Strike guys for the first time since BoB and he wanted to make sure I gave some props to somebody. Funkie was playing the part of Bull Randleman for the BoB game (who was supposed to be rescued after the battle near Nuenen). He said that two players came to rescue him just as the time ran out on the mission and although they didn't get the points for the mission, they executed the rescue attempt very well. Funk seems to think one of the players was Sparty, but has no idea who the other player was.
For this mission there was a password challenge. "Cherry" was to be answered by "blossom." (We thought "thunder/flash" would be too obvious.) Since Funkie was hiding in the weeds, this was supposed to help Easy Company locate him. Apparently the players that came to rescue him had one guy sit on the outskirts and call out "cherry" from time to time, to which Funkie would reply "blossom." This would have pretty effectively drawn any German attention toward that player. Meanwhile the other player (Sparty?) listened for Funkie's reply and crawled commando style towards his voice through the weeds. Keep in mind that Funkie was "stranded" just on the other side of the bridge from the German HQ, so keeping a low profile was important. The belly-crawling player got to Funk just before time ran out and declared "hey! I'm here to get you out!"
Funk said it was pretty impressive.
