Raider:for real russias gone.... that screws up the alliances... and the uniquness of the game, now its just another bf scenario
I actually think this one has a lot more potential than the old version. Certainly making alliances and stabbing people in the back is an interesting idea, but I'm pretty sure it would have ended up in a free for all. If I join an alliance with somebody and they stab me in the back... how am I supposed to trust that person again during the game? I can't. I won't. So you end up getting into an alliance with each team one time... you get screwed by each team one time... and then everybody hates everybody else and suddenly 4 out of 5 players on the field are looking to shoot you. There's very little chance of anything good happening there.
On the other hand, this version, while perhaps not
quite as unique, will offer players the opporunity to coordinate with another team on a full time basis. Something that hasn't really been attempted yet. You're going to have to work with your ally's squads to make attack plans, share special abilities where applicable and go in on joint purchases for mercs and such. Personally, I think it will run much smoother and will result in people enjoying the game much more.
In the end though, the game is what you make it. If you go there with a positive attitude just looking for fun, you're going to find it regardless of how the game is set up. The generals of each team are active players at the field (maybe also in their personal life.... holl-a!), and ARC has done a great job of setting these games up in the past, so I expect this will be a good time.
